WOMAN’S CLUB OF PLAYA DEL REY
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Furthering our pledge to advance Women Supporting Women, in 2021, the Woman’s Club of Playa del
Rey began its scholarship program. Scholarships are given to students with financial need from the following high schools: Venice Senior High School, Westchester Enriched Sciences Magnet, Inglewood High School, WISH, St. Mary’s Academy, St. Bernard’s and Notre Dame Academy.

The money to fund our scholarships comes primarily from sponsors of our Makers Market that takes
place at the outset of the holiday season. The Makers Market is a 1-day shopping event featuring 60
local artists and artisans, food booths, music and raffles. Sponsors of the market receive varying

In 2021, WCPDR raised $3,000 from sponsors of the market. In 2022, that amount increased to $7,500.By 2023, the amount was $21,500. For the 2024 market, sponsorship dollars are currently $29,745 and growing!
Our 2025 goal is to grow our sponsorship to $35,000.

In 2021, three scholarships were provided to local high school seniors who had financial need to go to college, totaling $3,600.
